As Manik Chand points out, an OpenType, Unicode Oriya
font is available from
http://oriya.sarovar.org/download/utkal.ttf.gz
(it is gzip-compressed, and can be uncompressed with
gunzip or newer versions of WinZip. Most browsers can
also uncompress it on the fly). If you are using
PCQLinux 2005 or Fedora Core 4, you can install a
complete Oriya package by getting
http://oriya.sarovar.org/download/rebati-00.03.tar.gz
Uncompress and untar it with
tar -xzf rebati-00.03.tar.gz
which will create the sub-directory rebati. Read
rebati/00README for installation instructions. There
are two shell scripts to make the installation
trivial.
For other Linux distributions, you can try adapting
these instructions, or reading the getting started
manual from the documentation section of
http://oriya.sarovar.org. Or, please feel free to ask
me for specific help.
As far as Windows goes, I am not at all sure how
to go about things. I understand that the font can
be easily installed, but that Oriya support is still
poor in Windows 2000/XP, and non-existent in other
versions. Please feel free to ask on the mailing list.
Regards,
Gora
