I have been trying to locate a font that would correctly render unicode oriya. But I have failed to find one so far. Almost all fonts get stuck as far as the matras "au," "o," "ou" etc are concerned. Isn't there a solution. I looked through the documentation of unicode (it might be outdated) and it seems that the complex font rendering support is not available for languages like Oriya, Bengali etc. That seems to be true even if it is not plausible! I don't see a difference between the way Devanagari script (the matras "au," "o," "ou" etc) is rendered and the way Oriya script is rendered. Is anything being done about it? I would like to do something about it if possible (I am not sure about my skills, but I have a lot of time to invest). It seems to me that unless we have a decent unicode font in place, it's not much use producing oriya text online (because, for example, I don't think we can google text written using bitmap fonts). Please let me know about the current situation, and what I can do to improve it. With respect, Soumendra -- Ask not for whom the telephone bell tolls... if thou art in the bathtub, it tolls for thee.
