It is not the way in which files are organised but it the way the system is
designed. File permissions are one way of achieving it.

Yet I Hear that Like many of us who actually are new to Linux would prefer

The viruses that are designed for Windows cannot affect GNU/Linux. If there
is no virus then why do you need an anti virus?
