1. What is the objective of distributing the nonstd*.ttf fonts?

2. Few months back, few fonts (in several languages) were released by
   a (Mumbai?) firm unger the GPL. i recall reading in the friends of
   fsf list that the fsf discourages use of these fonts is
   discouraged due to licensing problems. Which were these fonts?
   Please correct me here if I am wrong here.

3. Did not the tug release  the keli font under the gpl? Where is it
   now? Why is it not there in the malayalam-gnome tar ball?
